The "Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Directive" (IPRED) was passed unamended by the EU Parliament. This means that the package proposed by rapporteur Mrs Janelly Fourtou (and supported by her own group (PPE-DE = conservatives and christian democrats), the PSE, the ELDR and the UEN) after unofficial meetings with the Council working group and the Commission was adopted in its entirety. All other amendments - those from Greens, GUE, Marco Cappato and EDD - were defeated. Mrs Fourtou's husband, Jean-René Fortou, is CEO of Vivendi Universal. Full details and an analysis of voting from FFII.org.
