The XFree86 Project has announced a change to the base XFree86 license for the 4.4.0 release. The new license includes an attribution clause. Full details from XFree86.org.

I imagine they've thought about how this means their license will no longer be GPL-compatible, and don't care. So I don't suppose pointing this out to them will have any effect on their decision.
