[From Hartmut Pilch, FFII & Eurolinux Alliance] Both Arlene McCarthy MEP and the UK Government (i.e. the UK Patent Office and its patent policy working group, consisting mainly of corporate patent lawyers) have taken somewhat extraordinary measures to fight for their cause of strengthening and extending the legal positions of patent owners in Europe.
