GCC reviewed in DDJ comparison of C/C++ compilers

The current edition of Dr Dobb's Journal (Oct 2003, print edition) has a review article comparing 7 different C/C++ compilers, including GCC 3.2. GCC is described as the clear winner in terms of language support. Unfortunately, the review does not consider any aspect of software freedom.

The ability of users to cooperate in improving the software could have been taken into account --- as the author notes that a major proprietary competitor did not make a new release for 5 years.
