The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is reexamining the validity of US Patent No. 5,838,906. The patent restricts the use of object-embedding, such as multi-media files in web pages, and has been criticised by the W3C and Tim Berners-Lee. The official order can be found in the USPTO Official Gazette Notices - 25 November 2003 -- available online from USPTO.gov.
