At the London LinuxExpoUK a few days ago, the UK Association for Free Software (AFFS) received its first donation from UKFSN, an ISP that has pledged to use its profits to further free software.

The Association for Free Software received a 500 pound donation, which is intended to be used for free software project grants. Details of UKFSN accounts show this donation.

AFFS now has the happy problem of dealing with this money. There are currently Requests For Comments about donations and sponsorship and the grant process, which will be included in the next newsletter to AFFS members (early November). Once the comments are reviewed and incorporated, applications will be invited.

The AFFS website has a directory of photos from the Expo showing AFFS treasurer MJ Ray (left) accepting the cheque from UKFSN principal Jason Clifford. Also included there are two images of the stand showing AFFS secretary Adam Bower and show expert Kirsten Naylor.
