Speaking at FLOSCaribbean Conference
By dyfet, Section GNU-Friends
Posted on Wed Apr 9th, 2003 at 16:58:57 GMT
It seems I am to be a featured speaker (http://www.floscaribbean.org/speakers.html) at this year's "Free Libre and Open Source" Caribbean Conference (http://www.floscaribbean.org), to be held at the Auditorium of the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago, Port of Spain, Trinidad, on the 26th and 27th of June this year.

This looks like it will be a very interesting free software event. When I am not on the beach, I will be speaking about Free Software in government, and about GNU Alexandria, which is a spinoff of GNU Bayonne that focuses on enabling e-government services for the visually impaired.

David Sugar will be speaking for the Free Software Foundation (http://www.fsf.org) about government use of Free Software at this year's "OpenWeekend" (http://en.openweekend.cz), on the afternoon of March 15th, at the Department of Computer Sciences and Engineering at Czech Technical University, in the city of Prague, Czech Republic. In addition to speaking about free software adoption in the public sector, a new package, GNU Alexandria, will be introduced for public discussion. This new package is intended to enable wide access to e-government services by the visually impaired using the public telephone network.

By alex, Section GNU-Friends
Posted on Thu Jan 2nd, 2003 at 21:32:00 GMT

This issue covers more useful Free Software - Ninvaders, GNOME-Annotate, RULE - but also features an extensive editorial on the dangers that Free Software faces with new laws that are planned / being talked about, and a call for action people should answer!

It is, as always, available at brave-gnu-world.org

With the release of DotGNU Portable .NET 0.4.8, I'll take a brief moment to ingratiate myself and answer this question: why should you care?
